May 2019: Recorded Debut Album with Jazz-Rock Fusion Band Bell Helium

Following two years of rich collaboration with bandleader/lead guitarist James Beaudreau as a member of the James Beaudreau Band, I joined his new project: Bell Helium. And in May, we spent a fantastic day at Brooklyn's Strange Weather recording studio—yes, just one day—recording our entire debut album, set for release in early 2020. A jazz album for rock fans and vice versa, this fusion record will turn out to be one of the greatest things I'll ever do and I can't wait for the world to hear it! My incredible gratitude to the rest of the band for this experience: James Beaudreau (guitar), Caili O’Doherty (keyboards), Cory Cox (drums), Ian Riggs (bass).

February 2019: Served as TA to Jonathan Goldstein (Master Class)

February 11, 2019, I was proud to assist actor Jonathan Goldstein, Helen Hayes Award nominee for If I Forget at Washington DC's Studio Theatre and widely-beloved for playing Walter on Nickelodeon's Drake & Josh, when he taught an Acting & Auditioning Master Class in Port Washington, NY. The class was presented by HEARTS, a non-profit dedicated to enriching local life with arts education. Goldstein and I are both Port natives. And it's just a fun fact: arts programming in our hometown has incubated some great creative professionals, including Tony-nominated actor Robert Cuccioli, Broadway producer Nick Scandalios (Nederlander Org), actress Eaddy Mays (Teen Wolf), and the late filmmaker John Fasano (Another 48 Hours, Tombstone), among others. I was proud to be part of this local legacy, encouraging the next generation.

September 2018: Played Jean Maitland in Stage Door for Landmark Radio Theater

Loved returning to radio dramas to play the wisecracking Jean, originated onscreen by the great Ginger Rogers. The story chronicles the rise and fall of actresses who share a cramped boarding house and subsist mainly on bad stew and the enduring hope of booking the role of a lifetime. A funny, fantastic ride! Recorded live in front of a studio audience for later online streaming.

November 2017: Joined the James Beaudreau Band

After a few nights of sitting in with the James Beaudreau Band during their first year of residency at Harlem's Shrine World Music Venue, I was thrilled to be asked to join the band full-time. Bandleader and lead guitarist Beaudreau is a former member of San Francisco’s Billy Nayer Show and the founder of his own boutique label, Workbench Recordings. Every gig is a one-of-a-kind folk rock jam. Grateful for the ongoing, rewarding experience of performing with this crew.

Fall 2016 - Spring 2017: Guest Artist & Fellow Happy Student with Infusion Improv

It's always been so good for me, so I was happy to study comedy as a Guest Improviser with Infusion Improv, brainchild of instructor Ben Hauck (author of Long-form Improv: The Complete Guide to Creating Characters, Sustaining Scenes, and Performing Extraordinary Harolds). Our showcase took place at NYC's D-Lounge (under the Daryl Roth Theatre) on March 15, 2017.

Summer 2016: Played Hecuba in The Trojan Women (Eugene, OR)

This production reunited me with director Anton Ray, who helmed my solo performance VIOLETTE, VIOLETTE in 2012 (Bushwick Starr) and 2013 (Chekhov International Theatre Festival). His company, Oregon Laboratory Theater, took over an industrial warehouse and brought me right back to my downtown entrepreneurial roots. Chains, sand, scale, impact.

January 2016: Positive Press from the Finger Lakes Times

During a visit upstate to celebrate the New Year, I had the pleasure to sit in during a folk rock show at Lake Drum Brewing (Geneva, NY). Little did I know local music columnist and critic Chuck Agonito would be in attendance. I thank him for this flattering shout-out, which appeared in the Finger Lakes Times a couple of weeks later: "New York City singer-actress Anne DeAcetis brought the house down while showing us how they do it in the big city."

 

September 2015: Developmental Residency, La Mama Umbria International

For a few glorious late-summer weeks, I enjoyed a residency at Ellen Stewart's incredible La Mama Umbria. I was blessed to be cast in the new play Caregivers by Laura Campbell, (playing a strong-willed but rootless younger sister) and to further develop my solo performance, VIOLETTE, VIOLETTE...honing my craft under the steady hand of beloved mentors: Craig Belknap, Lew Palter and Marvin Tunney. Sixteen actors, four playwrights, La Mama. Heaven.

 

March 2015: Willie and the Wolves on NYC's City World Radio

Willie and the Wolves joined host Cee Stephen on City World Radio on March 9th from 6-7pm for an interview and live in-studio performances. 

 

Fall 2014-Spring 2015: Adjunct Professor of Acting at Essex County College

One of the many reasons I attended Cal Arts for my Acting MFA was to become a master—and masters teach. I am grateful to my Cal Artian cohort, Robb Martinez, who introduced me to the Humanities Department at Essex County College in Newark. For two semesters that felt all too short, I traveled two land masses to reach the most inspiring scholars of all ages (some of them military veterans) who were passionate in pursuit of education and eager to try drama. I taught some of my favorite plays (from A Raisin in the Sun to Jesus Hopped the A Train to Other Desert Cities), guiding scene work and character-building and exploring the craft I love so deeply. It was all an absolute privilege. Thank you, Essex community!

 

November 2015: Promotion for New York Real Estate 

Encouraging the act of building a life in New York City is almost something I don't need to be paid to do. Nevertheless, I was proud to appear in a real estate promo, playing a business professional enjoying life in an upscale Manhattan apartment building.

 

April 2015: Interview with "The Acting Income Podcast with Ben Hauck" 

I was proud to be interviewed for this program, which made iTunes' list of "New & Noteworthy" podcasts when it launched. Host Ben Hauck's conversations are all about finding balance as an actor through flexible sources of income. April 2015: Willie and the Wolves CD Release

After a year of laboring with love—in the studio, at the mixing board, through the magic of mastering, and even the amazing process of commissioning and collaborating on cover art—Willie and the Wolves hosted a jam-packed CD Release Party at Paddy Reilly's Music Bar, one of our favorite haunts. Immediately following, we went on our first mini-tour! Friday, June 19, we were in residence all night at Thai Rock in Far Rockaway, then headed to Caldwell, NJ the next night (Saturday, June 20) to open for the Wayne Brown Band at Ringside Pub. September 2014: Short film Checkout

Reuniting with one of my favorite film directors, Jared Rosenthal from Monitor (Jared's short documentary Our Streets was featured online by The Atlantic), I played mother to a young boy with both an overly-active imagination and a taste for adventure in Checkout. Our shoot locations included Beethoven Pianos in the Bronx, an awesomely atmospheric spot that film buffs will recognize from both The Secret Life of Walter Mitty and Bonfire of the Vanities.

 

August 2014: Recipient of the Ron Meadows Award for Excellence! (Theater)

I've been proud to give back to the town where I grew up, helping to revive an old-timey (founded 1927) non-profit called Port Washington Play Troupe. As a board member, I wrote a ton of press releases and helped revive the children's theater shenanigans that gave me my start as a young performer. And in the summer of 2014, to my great surprise and really humble appreciation, they honored me with their Ron Meadows Award for Excellence, named after my first and most beloved technical director ever. It's OK if that makes you misty. It made me misty, too.

 

March-May 2014: Radio dramas The Maltese Falcon, The Thin Man, Casablanca

I was beyond thrilled to be featured in a three-part radio drama series on public radio station WCWP (88.1FM) New York. March 14, I played Brigid (the femme fatale) in The Maltese Falcon, featuring the original radio script from 1943. April 25, I played socialite Nora Charles in The Thin Man, with the original radio script from 1936. The series concluded with Casablanca May 23, with the original radio drama script from 1944. All broadcasts include songs from the era and authentic Foley/sound effects. "Chah-ming!" Archive recordings available here and here.

 

September - December 2013: Music with Willie and the Wolves

The Willie Wolf Trio brought swing, blues and funk to Shades of Green on September 4, 2013 as part of the Artists' Lounge Music Showcase Series, and played the Dolphin Cafe (Port Washington, NY) on October 18. The full Willie and the Wolves band rocked its debut at The Delancey on September 13, HOSTED BY THE ONE AND ONLY FRANK WOOD, LEGENDARY NYC PROMOTER (sorry for shouting, but that was painfully cool) and returned once again to the friendly confines of Otto's Shrunken Head on November 22. The year ended with a fantastic two-set return to the Dolphin Cafe on Dec. 27. 

 

June 2013: Solo performance VIOLETTE, VIOLETTE

VIOLETTE, VIOLETTE, my solo show inspired by the life of French author Violette Leduc, was performed at a special fundraising event for the Chekhov International Theatre Festival on June 20, 2013, sharing a bill with multiple Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein...via video, since he had to appear on the Tonight Show after his triumphs at the Tony Awards with Kinky Boots! VIOLETTE, VIOLETTE is a sponsored project of the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA).

  

January 2012 - March 2013: Music with Willie and the Wolves

The Willie Wolf Trio brought swing, blues and funk to Nightingale Lounge (now closed, RIP) on January 9, 2013, and the full Willie and the Wolves band rocked Otto's Shrunken Head on March 7 and June 7, 2013.

August 2012: TV reenactment series The World's Astonishing News (NTV Japan)

For this long-running TV show viewed by well over 10 million Japanese viewers weekly, I played Laura, the long-lost sister of twins who have been diagnosed with a virulent cancer (Episode: "Sister Connection"). Interestingly enough, this marked my second appearance on prime time in Japan! I previously did featured background work for the NTV made-for-TV movie, Life of Chanel.

June 2012: Solo performance VIOLETTE, VIOLETTE

VIOLETTE, VIOLETTE, my solo show inspired by the life of French author Violette Leduc, debuted at the Obie Award-winning Bushwick Starr in Brooklyn. VIOLETTE, VIOLETTE is a sponsored project of the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA).

March 2012: PSA on NBC: "Your Vote Counts"

I appeared (along with other women) in a series of public service announcements on NBC in New York aimed at increasing voter turnout for the 2012 presidential election. Click here to watch.

 

November 2011: PBS' NOVA: Fabric of the Cosmos

I appeared on NOVA: Fabric of the Cosmos (PBS) as Beatrice from Much Ado About Nothing opposite Steven Rishard's Benedick in the grand St. George Theatre. Appearing as actors in rehearsal (how apt), we briefly illustrated a point about empty space. It must be noted that as the daughter of a physicist and an English teacher, and a strong supporter of public broadcasting, I loved this gig. Click here to watch.

August 2011: Short film Monitor 

That summer, I shot the short thriller Monitor for 64 Bit Films. I played the lead, Karen, a young divorcing mom with a knack for hearing and seeing things she shouldn't. Lots of creepy suspense, frazzled Mom moments and action sequences!
